Job Title: Manager Innovation & Business Automation

Job Summary:
Lead the development and implementation of ICT innovations and business automation initiatives within the Bank by leveraging emerging Technology to drive digital transformation projects, enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, and support the Bank’s growth strategy.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead initiatives to foster a culture of innovation within the Bank.
Leverage emerging technologies such as AI, Big data, and machine learning to innovate banking products and services.
Identify inefficiencies in current processes and systems and develop automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Collaborate with other departments, such as IT, operations, and customer service, to integrate innovative solutions seamlessly.
Build partnerships with fintech companies, and technology vendors to leverage external innovation capabilities.
Ensure that innovation initiatives comply with regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies.
Assess and mitigate risks associated with new technologies and automation processes.
Lead change management efforts to ensure the successful adoption of new technologies and processes across the organization.
Train and educate staff on the benefits and uses of new technologies and automation tools.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of innovation and automation initiatives.
Enhance customer-facing processes and digital channels to improve overall customer experience.
Support the business and strategy departments with innovative banking products and services that meet evolving customer needs and preferences
Establish partnerships with fintech companies, and technology vendors to deliver convenient customer experiences solutions much faster than the competition.
Provide an excellent platform for innovation and process automation activities in all domains of the bank (client-facing, digital strategy, back-end operations, risk management & regulatory reporting).
Keep abreast of technology trends, which offer solid, appropriate, cost-effective business applications & processes to the Bank.
Participate in software development processes by prototyping new application requirements and designing new business models.
Prepare system documentation to provide user support for programs and for production operating procedures.
Strong understanding of digital banking services
Responsible for development of the Business Technology innovations and Automations while ensuring cost optimisation.
Comply with AML/CFT/CPF policies and procedures, non -compliance of which shall be addressed as per the bank disciplinary processes.
Any other duty as shall be assigned to you from time to time.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any other related field.
Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile, Scrum) is a plus.
Experience
5 years’ experience in ICT Innovations and/or Business Automation, 3 years of which should be at a supervisory level.
Track record of delivering innovative solutions that drive business outcomes.
Ability to inspire and influence stakeholders
Relevant experience in leading ICT innovations, digital transformation, and business automation initiatives within the banking or financial services industry.
Ability to prepare product papers/business cases.
Familiarity with the regulated financial services industry in Uganda.
Strong understanding and experience in digital banking services.
Good understanding of banking operations and processes.
Ability to align innovation efforts with the bank’s business strategy,
Ability to identify opportunities for competitive advantage through technology.
Understanding the risks associated with new technologies and business automation.
