Job Description
Job Title: Manager Ecological Monitoring and Research

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Designing and developing a research strategy for wildlife conservation and ecosystems management.
Designing and developing ecological monitoring strategy for wildlife conservation and ecosystems management.
Developing research and ecological monitoring programs for wildlife conservation and ecosystems management.
Preparing and submitting annual State of the wildlife Report for Uganda to Management.
Developing capacity of staff to undertake research and ecological monitoring.
Establishing collaborative linkages with and supervision of Research Institutions and Partners in wildlife conservation and ecosystem management.
Reviewing research and ecological monitoring reports and generating recommendations for Management.
Managing the Research grant for wildlife conservation and ecosystem management.
Recommending approval of Research Institutions, individuals and Partners to undertake research in wildlife conservation and ecosystem management.
Mobilizing resources to support wildlife research and monitoring.
Developing work plans and preparing periodic reports
Supervising and appraising staff
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in either Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation, Veterinary Medicine, Botany, Zoology, Conservation Biology, Natural Resource Management, Wildlife Health and Management, Environmental Science or Environmental Management from a recognized University.
A Master’s Degree in any of the above fields from a recognized University.
Experience
At least nine (09) years’ relevant working experience in biodiversity conservation three (3) of which should have been at Principal Officer level from a reputable Organisation.
