The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a Government Agency mandated to oversee Standardization, Quality Assurance, Metrology, and Laboratory Testing (SQMT) with the objective of promoting fair trade and protecting consumers and the environment from harmful commodities.

MANAGER CERTIFICATION – 1 POSITION
Reports to: Deputy Executive Director – Standards
Responsible for developing and coordinating certification policies and procedures and managing daily department operations in line with the UNBS mandate.

How to Apply
Develop and review certification systems, policies, and procedures
Supervise certification activities countrywide to ensure industry participation
Implement departmental performance management plans
Manage and maintain effective management systems (ISO 9001, 17021, 170065, 19011)
Coordinate staff performance and conduct reviews
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual departmental reports
Develop guidelines for handling consumer complaints related to certification
Provide technical advisory services to industries and UNBS clients
Develop and implement departmental strategic plans and budgets
Provide leadership and technical support to department staff

Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Food Technology, Engineering, or other related sciences from a recognized institution
Honours degree in any of the above fields
Training in management is an added advantage
Minimum of 9 years’ experience, at least 5 of which must be supervisory
Membership in a relevant professional body is an added advantage
Strong analytical, innovative, strategic and data–interpretation skills
Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, ICT, and decision-making skills
Age: 35–55 years
