Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provide technical training to farmer groups on poultry and piggery production, including housing design, feeding, husbandry, disease prevention and breed selection.

  • Support implementation of the approved Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries livestock curriculum through Farmer Field Schools and practical demonstrations.

  • Assist beneficiaries in establishing livestock units and applying good management practices.

  • Support feed formulation using locally available materials, including integration of Black Soldier Fly larvae to improve nutrition and reduce costs.

  • Provide follow up mentoring and routine extension support to farmer groups and lead farmers.

  • Ensure livestock production activities integrate climate smart agriculture and sustainable land management principles.

  • Support input distribution through the e-voucher system, ensuring timely access to starter kits, breeding stock and tools.

  • Collaborate with the Entomologist to link Black Soldier Fly production with livestock feed systems.

  • Assist in strengthening farmer groups under the Farmer Institutional Development model, including recordkeeping and group dynamics.

  • Collect field data on livestock production, adoption rates, and value chain performance using project approved tools.

  • Participate in joint supervision missions with district authorities, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.
