Job Description

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership and oversight for mechanical engineering activities within an oil & gas or petrochemical operational environment. The role involves supervising mechanical operations, ensuring compliance with international standards, supporting asset integrity, and driving safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in mechanical system performance, maintenance strategy, reliability improvement, and continuous optimization of plant equipment.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all mechanical engineering and maintenance activities for operational facilities.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mechanical systems and rotating/static equipment.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies, inspection plans, and reliability programs.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and equipment failure investigations.
  • Oversee mechanical integrity management, including pressure vessels, piping, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and best practices (ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, IEC, NORSOK, ATEX, etc.).
  • Review and approve mechanical designs, specifications, and modifications.
  • Support project execution, commissioning, and handover to operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop mechanical engineers and technicians.
  • Work closely with operations, HSE, and other engineering disciplines to optimize plant performance.
  • Prepare technical reports, maintenance KPIs, and asset condition assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
