Job Description
Vacancy Title: Laboratory Technician
Hiring Organization: C-Care Uganda
Duty Stations: C-Care IMC branches in Mbale, Kireka, and Mukono
Reports To: Laboratory Manager
The Laboratory Technician will provide critical support in delivering accurate and timely laboratory results by collecting and preparing specimens, conducting diagnostic tests, and following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The technician ensures all laboratory activities meet the organization's quality and safety standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct daily operations of the lab, including running controls, proper documentation, sample collection, and reporting.
Manage the transportation of samples in line with organizational protocols.
Oversee specific work shifts and ensure smooth shift transitions.
Monitor inventory levels, conduct stock-taking, and manage ordering and receiving of supplies.
Maintain equipment by adhering to cleaning and maintenance schedules.
Participate in departmental meetings and weekly continuing education sessions.
Supervise task completion during assigned shifts and ensure adherence to Health & Safety, Infection Control, Waste Management, and ISO/QA standards.
Practice cost-effective resource management to support departmental profitability.
Attend and contribute to monthly team meetings, trainings, and performance reviews.
Communicate customer feedback and improvement suggestions to the team leader.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field
Key Skills: Attention to detail, lab equipment handling, inventory management, quality assurance, and teamwork
