Job Description
Job Title: IT Systems Administrator
Organisation: Norvik Enterprises
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Norvik Enterprises Limited is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to maintain the computing environment by identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, and monitoring network performance.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Provide support for computer and printer hardware, CCTV, and all company applications, including configuration, upgrades, and maintenance.
Troubleshoot and maintain server systems (Linux and Microsoft), LAN, and WAN solutions.
Implement and enforce internal computer systems security.
Administer Domain Controller, Active Directory, Firewalls, and Routers.
Implement and maintain up-to-date backups for servers and applications.
Test and implement software patches for all applications, including third-party software.
Build, implement, and periodically test disaster recovery plans for ICT systems and infrastructure.
Advise on the procurement of software, hardware, and other ICT accessories.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of all ICT systems and infrastructure.
Provide technical support for hardware and software issues encountered by users.
Manage the configuration and operation of client-based computer operating systems.
Monitor systems daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns.
Create and verify data backups; resolve help desk requests.
Upgrade systems and processes for enhanced functionality and security.
Administer infrastructure, including firewalls, databases, and malware protection software.
Review application logs.
Protect organizational data by maintaining confidentiality.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years in a similar role.
Skills:
Managerial and leadership skills.
Practical knowledge of CCTV management, firewalls, software, hardware, and networking protocols.
Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.
Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
