About the Role
Vivo Energy Uganda is seeking a dedicated IT Onsite Services Engineer to provide both first-line and second-line technical support for all end users. This role ensures smooth IT operations across infrastructure, desktop support, and incident resolution, while aligning with both IT and HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) compliance standards. The Engineer will assist the IT Onsite Services Lead in delivering day-to-day IT operations, supporting country-level projects, and driving service improvements.

How to Apply
Technical Support & Incident Management
Deliver hands-on support for hardware, software, printers, network, and end-user devices.
Log, diagnose, escalate, and resolve incidents in alignment with ITIL service management practices.
Keep users informed about the progress of their tickets through to resolution.
Infrastructure Support
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on local IT equipment (PCs, printers, routers, switches, UPS, etc.).
Monitor infrastructure health and report potential issues.
Manage local server rooms and ensure stable site connectivity.
IT Security & Compliance
Ensure endpoints (laptops, desktops, etc.) comply with security standards (e.g., antivirus, encryption, patching).
Participate in audits and support implementation of IT security recommendations.
Monitor third-party service compliance with IT and HSSE requirements.
End-User Support
Support users on standard applications including MS Office 365, Windows OS, VPN access, and remote working tools.
Provide orientation or training on new IT systems as needed.
Set up and troubleshoot video conferencing and telephony tools.
Asset Management & Service Delivery
Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets including loaner and replacement equipment.
Support hardware refresh cycles and software deployments.
Manage IT stock and maintain storeroom organization in collaboration with the OSS Lead.
Project & Transformation Support
Participate in regional or country-level IT project implementations (e.g., network upgrades, application rollouts).
Facilitate the handover process ("transition to support") for new systems.
Vendor & Site Coordination
Coordinate with vendors such as ISPs and hardware repair teams during site visits.
Ensure vendors follow proper access protocols and HSSE induction procedures.
Participate in periodic vendor performance reviews.
Key Challenges
Managing high volumes of support requests while maintaining service quality.
Providing after-hours support for urgent (Priority 1 & 2) incidents.
Overseeing third-party access and service delivery in compliance with HSSE guidelines.
Supporting both ERP (SAP) and various non-ERP applications with limited onsite resources.
Being the primary point of contact for all IT issues in-country while ensuring user satisfaction.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
ITIL Foundation certification is required; certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, or related technologies are a plus.
Minimum 5 years of IT support/helpdesk experience in a structured corporate environment.
Experience supporting both ERP (preferably SAP) and non-ERP applications.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams and Polycom.
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure and hardware: Nutanix servers, Lenovo devices, Kyocera/HP printers, Cisco/Aruba networking.
Familiarity with tools such as Windows Server R2, OS/400, Intune, SolarWinds, Fortinet, WSUS, and IRM.
Proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving technical issues efficiently.
Skilled in working within cross-functional teams and coordinating with global IT support.
Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills.
Leadership potential with ability to mentor junior team members.
