Job Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Inventory Accountant to join our Finance team in Uganda. This critical role supports the accurate accounting and management of inventory across our supply chain and sales network. You’ll collaborate closely with procurement, logistics, and operations teams to ensure stock integrity and efficient inventory processes.
This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, organized, and thrives in a dynamic, data-driven environment.

Ensure accurate and timely recording of all inventory purchases in the general ledger.
Reconcile stock-in-transit accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Track and reconcile landed cost accruals against actual payments.
Coordinate and participate in monthly and ad-hoc physical stock counts.
Distribute stock count templates and manage the inventory count process across locations.
Investigate and approve stock adjustments related to variances, damages, or losses.
Maintain accurate daily and monthly stock movement records.
Oversee proper documentation and disposal of damaged or obsolete inventory in line with policy.
Reconcile sub-ledger accounts by location with physical stock and general ledger balances.
Prepare month-end inventory valuations and support cost of sales reporting.
Provide inventory support and guidance across internal teams.
Analyze margins and inventory performance by product category on a weekly and monthly basis.
Update Bill of Materials (BOM) and monitor production entries in SAP.
Generate and share reports on slow-moving stock, repossessions, and voluntary returns.
Track international stock orders, ensuring prompt delivery and resolution of delays.
Ensure real-time booking of inventory movements such as swaps, scrapping, and repossessions in SAP.
Book sales transactions in SAP and reconcile accounts receivable monthly.
Serve as the primary focal point for inventory-related matters within the finance department.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certification (ACCA, CPA) is required.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory or financial accounting.
Experience in renewable energy, financial services, or working with last-mile customers is a plus.
Strong background in accounting systems, preferably SAP.
Skills
Excellent understanding of inventory and financial accounting principles.
High attention to detail and data accuracy.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel occasionally to rural areas for field visits.
