Job Description
The Temporary HR Officer will support the process of attracting and hire high-quality candidates across the assigned Save the Children Uganda program location. This role will support the HR department in ensuring timely, compliant, and inclusive hiring processes to support the urgent programmatic staffing needs.
The Temporary HR Officer may take on additional HR related tasks as and when asked to do so.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding for all levels of staff.
- Collaborate with hiring managers in the development of job descriptions and recruitment strategies.
- Advertise the job vacancies on appropriate platforms to attract the right candidates.
- Coordinate candidate assessments, reference checks, and selection processes in line with organizational policies.
- Ensure all recruitment practices comply with SCI Ug HR policies, donor regulations, and local labor laws.
- Maintain accurate recruitment records, generate and ensure approval of recruitment reports
- Develop and maintain a database of qualified candidates for critical and frequently recruited roles.
- Facilitate and coordinate the onboarding process for new field staff, ensuring they receive all necessary resources, training, and policy orientation.
- Provide feedback to the unsuccessful candidates after the interview process is complete.
- Responsible for drafting all Community Based Volunteer (Teachers) contracts, ensure accuracy and compliance with the policies and applicable laws.
- Work closely with the Project Officers to ensure timely and accurate update of the Community Based Volunteer (CBV) database and the Volunteer Management System (VMS) with all the hired/contracted Teachers.
- Assist in other HR/Admin related tasks as and when asked, including but not limited to Performance Management and Development, Policy Compliance and Documentation, HR Reporting and Analytics, Health, Safety, and Staff Well-being, Assisting in special HR projects or initiatives, keep updated with HR best practices in the humanitarian sector, especially those relevant to field-based work.
