Job Description

The HR Manager will serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership, aligning HR strategies with overall business goals. The role involves driving organizational development, leading talent acquisition, fostering employee engagement, implementing training and leadership growth programs, and administering compensation and benefits. The HR Manager will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with Rwandan labour legislation, managing performance cycles, and promoting a positive workplace culture. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on developing and sustaining a motivated workforce.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • HR Strategy & Leadership: Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals; act as an advisor to senior leadership; drive organizational development and update organograms.

  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning: Manage end-to-end recruitment; build a strong talent pipeline; oversee onboarding and staff movement processes.

  • Employee Engagement & Culture: Foster an inclusive work environment; conduct employee engagement surveys; implement action plans to improve retention and morale.

  • Learning & Development: Design and deliver training programs; conduct skills gap analyses; oversee succession and leadership development initiatives.

  • Performance Management: Manage performance cycles; support managers in evaluations, feedback, and performance improvement; promote accountability.

  • Compensation & Benefits: Administer salary and benefits programs; conduct benchmarking; ensure compliance with laws and alignment with company standards; support annual HR budgeting.

  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with Rwandan labour laws; update HR practices as regulations change; support audits and maintain accurate HR records.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree or HR certification is an advantage).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR management experience, including 2 years in a managerial role.

  • Strong experience in HR management within Rwanda.

  • Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain sectors preferred.

  • Background in multinational or cross-cultural work environments.

Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of labour laws, compliance, employee relations, and talent development.

  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to implement HR processes and systems.

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple HR functions effectively in a dynamic environment.
