Purpose of the Role

The Head of Business Growth will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Bank’s business growth strategy in alignment with organizational goals. The role focuses on expanding the Bank’s assets, liabilities, and customer base while ensuring sustainable and inclusive financial growth.

How to Apply

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Business Growth Strategy aligned with the Bank’s mission and vision.

  • Establish strategic partnerships to enhance value creation and minimize market risk exposure.

  • Ensure timely communication of strategic plans, budgets, policies, and procedures to relevant stakeholders.

  • Monitor departmental performance against strategic objectives and address performance gaps proactively.

2. Business Development and Growth

  • Drive initiatives to maximize cross-selling and enhance product uptake across customer segments.

  • Oversee loan book growth and ensure high portfolio quality and risk management.

  • Manage the full credit process — including client acquisition, loan underwriting, credit analysis, and recovery — to maintain a healthy lending portfolio.

  • Conduct market intelligence and competitor analysis to identify new opportunities and emerging trends.

  • Spearhead the Bank’s expansion into new markets and implement go-to-market strategies aligned with growth objectives.

3. Savings Mobilization

  • Design and execute deposit mobilization strategies to grow the Bank’s deposit base and customer numbers.

  • Strengthen relationship management, customer experience, and the use of innovative delivery channels and technology to enhance savings growth.

4. Digital Financial Services

  • Champion innovation and digital transformation to improve product accessibility and customer experience.

  • Leverage technology to expand financial inclusion, enhance efficiency, and balance digital convenience with personalized service.

  • Identify and address barriers related to financial access, literacy, and security for the Bank’s customers.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 10 years of banking experience, with at least 5 years at management level.

  • Proven experience in microfinance or retail banking institutions.


Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability in strategic planning and implementation.

  • Strong understanding of Ugandan banking regulations and compliance standards.

  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, networking, and communication skills.

  • Proven experience in customer service strategy, policy development, and performance management.
