Job Description
To provide Geographical Information System services to the organization. The officer is also responsible for managing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data using GIS software and tools to guide strategic and management decisions.
Impact: The GIS Officer ensures that the organization strategy and decisions are viable by providing insights and solutions based on geographic and spatial data.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Resolving problems and spatial queries as they arise.
- Analyze GIS information to make informed decisions.
- Assist in outlining and demonstrating GIS benefits to the user departments.
- Training and technical support of network auditors.
- Compile, process, and organize geospatial data from various sources (satellite imagery, maps, government records).
- Maintain and update GIS databases.
- Create detailed, accurate maps and interactive visualizations to represent data.
- Use GIS tools to overlay different types of data (e.g., topography, population, land use) for specific purposes.
- Accurate and well-maintained filing system for GIS data and records.
- Compile, process, and organize geospatial data from various sources (satellite imagery, maps, government records).
- Maintain and update GIS databases.
- Comprehensive records of completed administrative and clerical activities.
