Job Description
The General Service Assistant will be responsible for general cleaning and sanitation of hospital premises, proper waste disposal, laundry services, and ensuring hygiene and safety protocols are observed. The position also requires participation in training, meetings, spiritual programs, and adhering to professional development goals. The successful candidate will report to the General Service Supervisor and be stationed at CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda in Mbale.

How to Apply
Sweep, scrub, mop and dust assigned duty stations
Disinfect contaminated surfaces using approved solutions
Provide laundry services including sorting, washing, rinsing, drying, pressing, and folding hospital linen
Ensure proper waste disposal by emptying bins, disinfecting, and transporting garbage to the incinerator
Uphold infection prevention and control measures including hand hygiene and PPE use
Store and disinfect cleaning equipment properly after use
Participate in scheduled training sessions and professional development
Attend departmental and hospital meetings
Comply with occupational health and safety policies
Participate in the hospital’s spiritual ministry programs
Perform any other official duties assigned by the supervisor

Education:
Certificate in Hotel Management and Institutional Catering (preferred)
Experience:
Experience in laundry, kitchen, or cleaning work at a recognized hospital, hotel, or guest house
Skills and Competencies:
Understanding of maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients
Ability to learn and perform sterilization procedures
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to speak, read, and write in English
Organizational skills, attention to detail, and a flexible attitude
Willingness to work under pressure and adopt new procedures
