Job Description
Job Title: Fuel Clerk (Laborer)

The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Fuel Clerk in the General Services Office/Motor Pool Section. The incumbent serves as the gas station attendant, and fuel clerk. Keeping accurate records of all fuel issues and deliveries. Also serves as data entry clerk for all fuel issues and deliveries. Performs manual laborer duties. Cleans and washes government vehicles.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Supplying Fuel: 80%
Maintains accurate records of all fuel issues and deliveries and fuel stocks ensuring that depletion is notified for replenishment.
Fills in the daily fuel issuance record and using a computer, enters all fuel delivery data in ILMS/ FMIS daily.
Ensures that pumps are functioning, and reports any malfunctions, broken hoses or problems encountered with electricity while performing his/her duties.
Ensures that hand tools required for the smooth operation of the gas station and fuel tanks are available.
Ensures a safe working area and that pumps and tanks are locked at the end of the workday.
Responsible for the cleanliness and neatness of own workspace.
Unskilled labor: 20%
Working alone, or as member of a labor crew, performs various kinds of unskilled manual labor tasks, including, but not limited to those functions directly related to pumping fuel at a vehicle service station. Participate in vehicle cleaning and in fuel deliveries to residences or other locations.
Incumbent serves as incidental operator of official vehicles and meets all requirements outlined in 14 FAM 433.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education Requirements:
Completion of secondary school (both O and A Level) is required.
Experience:
Knowledge of fuel distribution systems, vehicle operation, and local traffic laws and regulations.
Language:
English: Limited knowledge, written & spoken.
Job Knowledge:
Knowledge of fuel distribution systems, vehicle operation, and local traffic laws and regulations.
Skills And Abilities:
Good customer service skills.
The ability to operate a Public Service vehicle (fuel tanker truck).
Computer, data entry and numerical skills.
Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
The ability to perform arduous physical work is required.
