About the Role
AFRIpads is looking for a Fleet & Operations Coordinator—a proactive, organized, and hands-on professional to support and optimize our day-to-day fleet and operational activities. You will play a key role in coordinating transportation logistics, supporting procurement and stores, and ensuring smooth field operations.
You will report directly to the Logistics Manager and work closely with the broader Operations team, including Procurement and Logistics personnel, two drivers, and the department head.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Fleet Management
Coordinate and oversee daily vehicle scheduling, dispatching, and tracking.
Ensure proper maintenance and timely inspections of the fleet; source and obtain quotations for vehicle parts.
Manage fuel planning and maintain accurate records of fuel usage and vehicle performance.
Maintain up-to-date vehicle documentation, including service logs and repairs.
Step in to deliver stock when driver availability is limited.
Operations Support
Serve as operations lead for field trips: coordinate drivers, book accommodations, ensure stock readiness, and manage field logistics.
Assist with procurement by sourcing new suppliers and overseeing maintenance of office premises.
Support inventory management, including periodic stock verification at the Kampala store.
Perform general administrative and operational tasks as required.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements
Degree in Transport, Logistics, Fleet Management, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, fleet coordination, or operations in a busy environment.
At least 4 years of driving experience with strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supervising drivers or working with mechanics.
Knowledge of automobile maintenance is a plus.
Experience in the NGO or commercial sectors.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Practical, well-organized, and highly dependable with a positive attitude.
Enjoys challenges and works well under pressure.
