Fixed Network OLT After-sales Technical Support Engineer Job at ZTE Uganda

Job Description
We are seeking a local After-sales Technical Support Engineer to support ZTE fixed network PON/OLT projects in Uganda. The role involves project delivery, operations and maintenance, and customer support for major telecom operators. The engineer will provide both on-site and remote technical assistance, troubleshoot network faults, oversee project implementation, and ensure stable FTTH network operations in line with SLA requirements.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Network Operation & Fault Handling Perform daily maintenance, alarm monitoring, data configuration, service debugging, and troubleshooting for ZTE C300/C600 OLT and GPON/EPON/XGS-PON equipment. Address issues such as optical power anomalies, LOS alarms, ONU offline, bit errors, service instability, and outages. Conduct ON link diagnostics, OTDR testing, and fiber fault rectification.
- After-sales Project Delivery Manage FTTH project deployment, OLT commissioning, service cutover, capacity expansion, version upgrades, and project acceptance. Collaborate with operator NOC and engineering teams to ensure smooth service activation and verification.
- Customer Technical Support Provide professional English-language technical support to local telecom operators. Handle consultations, complaints, and escalations. Conduct regular network health checks and deliver analysis reports with optimization recommendations.
- Documentation & Knowledge Management Prepare technical documents, fault reports, and weekly/monthly operation reports. Record typical fault cases and contribute to process optimization for local operations.
