Description (Public)
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage tax compliance, including VAT, WHT, and PAYE filings with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
- Coordinate internal and external audit processes and ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
- Monitor cash flow, manage liquidity, and oversee treasury functions.
- Maintain and strengthen internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
- Provide financial insights and reports to the senior management team to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Person Specifications / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA (U) or ACCA is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in financial management, with significant experience in the fintech, banking, or telecommunications sectors.
- Deep understanding of Ugandan tax laws (URA), IFRS, and local financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks) and advanced Excel.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and strategic thinking capabilities.
