Job Description
Baikal Group is seeking a Finance Manager in Uganda to lead our finance function and support our mission of closing the credit gap for Africa’s gig workers and SMEs through innovative financing solutions. The role is based in Kampala, Uganda. The Finance Manager will oversee financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and provide analysis to support senior leadership.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial statements in accordance with Ugandan Accounting Standards (UAS) and IFRS.
- Manage journal entries, reconciliations, and routine ledger postings.
- Maintain and update the Chart of Accounts, ensuring accuracy in general ledger accounts.
- Oversee period-end closing processes, including closing entries and opening balances.
- Ensure compliance with URA tax regulations (PAYE, VAT, WHT, Corporate Tax) and manage timely filings and payments.
- Develop budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial performance reports.
- Establish internal controls and financial policies.
- Coordinate audits and provide accurate financial data.
- Support senior leadership with financial analysis and recommendations.
