Monthly Salary: UGX 4,975,990 (UGX 59,711,880 annually, subject to tax)

Benefits: Medical insurance for you, your spouse, and up to two children

About STiR Education:

At STiR Education, we partner with education systems to reignite intrinsic motivation in teachers and officials—empowering them to become lifelong learners and role models for students. While many interventions focus on "seeds" like new curricula or technology, we focus on enriching the “soil”—the culture and mindset that enables these interventions to thrive.

Our core values—Humility, Openness, Ownership, and Purpose—guide our approach. We support and challenge each other to grow, reflect, and improve, and we role-model the learning environment we aim to build in education systems.

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a Finance Executive to support the finance and administration function in Uganda, aligned with STiR’s global financial strategy. This role ensures financial integrity, regulatory compliance, timely reporting, and efficient financial operations. You’ll be central to maintaining accurate records, ensuring payments are processed correctly, and supporting grants and project financial reporting.

  • Support audit readiness by preparing schedules and resolving queries

  • Maintain financial controls in accordance with STiR policies and Ugandan laws

2. Payments & Expenditure Management

  • Prepare payments only when fully supported and within approved budgets

  • Ensure proper coding in line with the chart of accounts

  • Verify the accuracy of vendor invoices and e-receipts

  • Manage contract and operational payments per agreed terms

  • Maintain integrity of banking platforms and payment systems

3. Cash & Bank Operations

  • Monitor receipts and disbursements, ensuring completeness

  • Minimize cash transactions by promoting e-money platforms

  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and submit for approval

4. Grant & Project Financial Support

  • Maintain and reconcile grant-specific ledgers

  • Track project bank and cash account activities

  • Support the preparation of grant financial reports for funders

5. Tax & Compliance

  • Work with the Senior Finance Manager to ensure full tax compliance

  • Accurately calculate and apply applicable taxes (WHT, VAT, income tax, etc.)

  • Maintain a list of WHT-exempt vendors for reference

6. Global Reporting & Governance

  • Prepare weekly payment batches and monthly variance analyses

  • Support the month-end close and global reporting requirements

  • Uphold STiR’s values and promote a professional, collaborative team culture

  • Support audits and act on any resulting recommendations

  • Ensure contracts (e.g., rent, insurance) are monitored and fulfilled
