Solar Turbines Incorporated, a global leader in the manufacture of industrial gas turbines and centrifugal compressors, is currently seeking qualified Ugandan nationals for the following position:
Position: Field Service Representative
The Field Service Representative (FSR) acts as a technical and administrative liaison between Solar Turbines and its customers. This role involves on-site supervision and execution of various services including preventive maintenance, inspection, installation, commissioning, condition monitoring, overhaul, and repairs.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure strict compliance with work permit systems and safety protocols.
Represent the company in accident investigations and promote safe work practices.
Deliver high-quality service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Conduct all maintenance and commissioning tasks in line with Solar Turbines' engineering specifications and industry best practices.
Provide detailed feedback on encountered issues and resolution methods.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products to effectively repair and adjust mechanical, electrical, electronic, and control systems.
Interpret technical drawings, ladder logic diagrams, and manuals proficiently.
Keep accurate service records to support technical and financial decision-making.
Offer guidance to Solar and its clients on warranty issues, logistics, engineering, project management, spare parts, training, and maintenance systems.
Submit timely and precise activity reports, including reports on non-routine incidents.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Systems, Mechanical Systems, Engineering Maintenance, Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation, or equivalent (e.g., Aviation Engineer’s License, Marine Engineer’s Certificate).
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a related industry.
Equivalent experience or skill level may compensate for a lower academic qualification.
Proven experience in overseas or offshore work environments is essential.
Hands-on familiarity with rotating equipment and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and program these systems.
Cross-disciplinary expertise (mechanical and electrical/instrumentation) is required.
Strong knowledge of gas turbine and gas compressor theory, generator operation, control system logic, and upstream/downstream processes.
