Location: Multiple districts across Uganda (Rwenzori, Kigezi, and Mt. Elgon regions)
Contract Duration: 8 months (November 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026)

Position Summary
IFDC is recruiting Field Extension Workers (FEWs) to support the implementation of its agricultural development initiatives in selected districts of Rwenzori, Kigezi, and Mt. Elgon regions. The role involves direct field engagement with farmers and community groups, training on sustainable practices, monitoring adoption of technologies, and collecting field data.
Each FEW will work within at least five (5) project villages and will report to the Project Field Officer based in their respective regional office.
Duty Stations:
Rwenzori Region: Bunyangabu, Kabarole, Kasese
Kigezi Region: Kabale, Rukiga, Rubanda, Kisoro
Mt. Elgon Region: Mbale, Bulambuli, Kapchorwa, Kween, Bukwo

How to Apply
Implement Participatory Integrated Plans (PIP) at community and household level
Train farmers (including farmer innovators) on:
Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM)
Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
Nutrition, Post-Harvest Handling (PHH)
Village Savings & Loan Associations (VSLA)
Promote and support market-oriented groups and VSLAs
Conduct farm visits, manage demo plots, and offer agronomic/nutritional support
Collect and submit accurate data for the project’s Monitoring & Evaluation system (BRIGHT MIS)
Support project reporting, farmer adoption tracking, and risk identification
Provide ongoing mentorship and technical support to farmers at ground level
Participate in all training and refresher sessions organised by the project
Diploma or Certificate in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Forestry, or a related field
Proven experience in farmer training, mobilization, and community engagement
Must reside in and be fluent in the local language of the area of assignment
Passionate about rural development and willing to work extensively in remote areas
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Reporting Line:
The Field Extension Worker will report to the Project Field Officer based at IFDC field offices in Mbale (Mt. Elgon), Rwenzori, and Kigezi regions.
Terms & Payment:
Monthly facilitation allowance: UGX 600,000 (subject to 6% withholding tax)
Bonus of UGX 100,000 for exceeding set monthly targets
Monthly transport allowance: UGX 300,000
Monthly airtime allowance: UGX 70,000
Payment is performance-based, tied to achievement and submission of verifiable data
Monthly reports must be submitted by the 30th of each month
