Job Description
Position Title: Emergency Coordinator
Organization: Welthungerhilfe (WHH)
Location: Fort Portal, Uganda
Start Date: 1st September 2025
Contract Duration: Until 31st December 2025 (with possibility of extension based on funding)
Salary Scale: WHH Pay Grade SG7
Position Objective
The Emergency Coordinator will lead the coordination and implementation of humanitarian projects with local partner organizations, ensuring adherence to organizational, contractual, and financial guidelines. The role also contributes to humanitarian program development and resource mobilization strategies for WHH Uganda.

How to Apply
Strategic and Programmatic Coordination
Analyze humanitarian needs and changing contexts in Uganda, particularly in sectors such as Food Security, Nutrition, WASH, and Protection.
Contribute to the development and execution of WHH Uganda’s humanitarian strategy in alignment with the country strategic plan.
Ensure integration of emergency preparedness planning into WHH’s humanitarian operations.
Support the design of WHH Uganda’s humanitarian funding and resource mobilization strategy.
Coordinate the development and implementation of humanitarian projects in partnership with national organizations.
Operational Oversight & Partnerships
Lead and coordinate field-level rapid assessments and emergency response interventions.
Maintain active engagement with key humanitarian actors including UNHCR, OPM, Start Network, and other partners.
Represent WHH in national and field-level coordination platforms, joint assessments, and appeals.
Serve as focal point for WHH Uganda’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPreP), ensuring it is up-to-date and functional.
Facilitate training and capacity building for WHH’s Country Emergency Team (CET), ensuring preparedness actions are implemented effectively.
Program Quality & Innovation
Ensure all humanitarian interventions align with WHH and international humanitarian standards.
Support the integration of Anticipatory Action approaches into humanitarian programming.
Monitor project quality, ensuring effectiveness, compliance, and impact.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Agriculture, Nutrition, Humanitarian Studies, Peacebuilding, Social Sciences).
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in emergency coordination or response.
Strong command of English (written and spoken).
Demonstrated experience in stakeholder coordination and inter-agency collaboration.
Strong leadership, planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Previous experience in Uganda’s refugee or displacement settings is an asset.
Familiarity with donors such as ECHO, WFP, and START Network is desirable.
Experience in developing humanitarian proposals is a plus.
Willingness to travel on short notice for emergency interventions.
