Job Description
Job Title: Economic Policy Associate (No Experience UN Jobs)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Based in the UN RCO in Uganda, the role of the Economic Policy Associate will support in providing evidence-based economic policy analysis and development partner engagement to support the implementation and achievement of SDGs in Uganda.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Head of the direct supervision of the Development Coordination Officer/Economist in the UN RCO as the first supervisor, the Economic Policy Associate will be responsible for:
Supporting evidence-based analysis to establish the trends of sustainable development, challenges, and opportunities in Uganda to inform policy and programming.
Participating in UN internal and external engagements aimed at providing advice on innovative economic and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) policies to accelerate progress on the 2030 Agenda.
Supporting the work of the UN SDG Technical Working Group to drive multi-stakeholder approaches to policy, analysis, and programming in the country.
Participating in the preparation of programmes aimed at accelerating the achievement of the SDGs.
Supporting the planning and coordination of high-level SDG related events.
Engaging in sustainable development policy advocacy and communication activities.
Supporting knowledge management on SDGs related issues and promote learning within the relevant networks.
Support in maintaining existing and building new partnerships with Government, development partners, and other stakeholders that collaborate with the UN in the implementation and achievement of the 2030 Agenda.
Keeping abreast of Uganda’s socio-economic trends and identify their implications for the country and UN’s development cooperation.
Engaging in any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

This assignment is funded by the Government of Sweden and therefore specific criteria apply:

Candidates must be Swedish nationals, fluency in Swedish is required
Candidates must be between 18 and 29 years of age at the time of application.
Candidates who already served on a UN Volunteer assignment funded by the Government of Sweden are not eligible.

Required education level
Bachelor degree or equivalent in Economics, economic policy and planning, economic policy management, public policy, development studies or any other closely related field. A master’s degree in the same fields will be preferred but not a requirement.
