Job Description
The position requires an experienced driver who can maintain a high level of vehicle performance and safety standards. The Driver II will support various departments by providing transportation services, conducting routine mechanical checks, maintaining accurate trip records, and ensuring the safety of both passengers and cargo. The successful candidate must possess technical driving skills, a clean driving record, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Drive institute vehicles as authorized.
Conduct routine checks on vehicle systems including cooling, oil, brakes, electrical systems, and tire pressure.
Detect and report vehicle malfunctions.
Maintain accurate vehicle work tickets.
Ensure vehicle security and safety at all times.
Induct and coach new drivers as needed.
Ensure the safety of passengers and goods being transported.
Keep the assigned vehicle clean and roadworthy at all times.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ or equivalent.
Valid driving license free from current endorsements for relevant vehicle classes.
Occupational Trade Test for Drivers Grade I from Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or a recognized institution.
Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent.
Suitability Test for Drivers Grade I.
First Aid Refresher Course Certificate from St. John Ambulance, KIHBT, or recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Experience:
Minimum of four (4) years of relevant driving experience.
Key Competencies and Skills:
Effective communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Team player with excellent interpersonal abilities.
Demonstrated integrity and accountability.
