Job Description
The Truck Driver will operate articulated trucks to transport goods to designated destinations. Key responsibilities include route planning, loading and unloading cargo securely, performing regular vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate delivery records, and providing excellent customer service at delivery points. The driver must adhere to all road safety regulations and represent the company professionally while interacting with clients and stakeholders.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operate trucks safely to transport goods and materials
Plan and follow efficient delivery routes
Load and unload cargo, ensuring it is properly secured
Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report issues
Maintain up-to-date delivery logs, fuel receipts, and vehicle inspection forms
Adhere to traffic laws and safety regulations
Communicate with dispatchers or supervisors on delivery progress
Provide professional customer service at delivery locations
Assist in managing delivery schedules and meeting deadlines
Respond appropriately to unexpected situations on the road

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
KCSE Certificate
Valid Class CE (Heavy Commercial Vehicle) driver’s license
Defensive driving certification (an added advantage)
Safety training certification (preferred)
Clean driving record with NTSA clearance
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for heavy trucks
Certification in hazardous materials handling (if applicable)
Experience:
2–5 years of experience driving articulated or similar heavy trucks
Familiarity with both rural and urban Kenyan road conditions
Competencies and Skills:
Excellent truck driving and road safety skills
Strong route planning and time management abilities
Mechanical awareness and ability to conduct basic maintenance checks
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and make decisions in challenging situations
Attention to detail and commitment to safe cargo handling
Professional and courteous demeanor
