Job Description
Position Title: Drilling Completions Superintendent – DCSI Senior Rig 1
Location: Bulisa, Uganda
Worksite: Bulisa Industrial Area (UGA)

Project Overview
The Tilenga project is a greenfield development located in a remote area of Uganda near Lake Albert, within a highly sensitive environmental setting. The development involves producing heavy, waxy oil from 31 well pads, some situated within a national park. Production capacity is 200,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) and 650,000 barrels per day of water treatment. Reservoir pressure is maintained through water or polymer injection, based on reservoir characteristics. The project includes an extensive network with thermal preservation measures.
This is a complex, high-impact operation in a multicultural environment, subject to Ugandan regulations and international standards for onshore development.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Lead by example in upholding high HSEQ standards.
Actively participate in rig Site Committee Meetings and champion HSE programs.
Contribute to the preparation of Technological Risk Assessments, Bridging Documents, and BOCP.
Oversee the safe start-up and continuous improvement of HSE practices on new rigs.
Promote environmental initiatives, especially critical for drilling operations within a national park.
Operations Management
Ensure personnel, equipment, and services meet operational requirements.
Lead the training and development of personnel, enhancing competencies and technical skills.
Actively engage with engineering teams to support timely planning, equipment delivery, and well design.
Recommend technological and digital innovations to improve safety and efficiency.
Challenge and review operational programs and contribute to continuous improvement during and after operations.
Contract Management
Validate rig contract invoices promptly each month.
Ensure adherence to contract terms and lead Service Quality Meetings for the rig contract.
Operational Execution
Oversee and optimize drilling and completion operations with a focus on cost and performance.
Coordinate daily activities with fluids, completions, logistics, and geosciences teams.
Utilize the Real Time Operating Center (RTOC) to enhance field support and expedite decisions.
Maintain open communication with management regarding operational status and critical issues.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor's degree (minimum) in a relevant field.
Mandatory certifications: IWCF Level 4 (Surface & Subsea), Chain of Command (Superintendent level), and T-BOP (TotalEnergies internal training).
Minimum 15 years of oil & gas experience, including roles as DCSSV and DCSI.
At least 3 years of experience as a DCSI on a development project.
Strong understanding of TotalEnergies’ policies and procedures for drilling, testing, and HSE.
Prior onshore drilling experience is preferred.
Must be adaptable to a multicultural work environment.
