About the Organisation

The Secretary, District Service Commission Apac informs the general staff that, Applications are invited from suitable and eligible serving officers for the post which exist in the department as specified below:

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Natural Resource Management: Develop and implement strategies for the sustainable management of natural resources within the district, including land, water, forests, wildlife, and minerals.

  • Policy Implementation: Ensure compliance with national and local regulations, policies, and guidelines related to natural resource management. Interpret and enforce relevant laws to protect and conserve resources.

  • Environmental Conservation: Promote conservation practices and initiatives to preserve biodiversity, ecosystems, and habitats. Coordinate efforts to mitigate environmental degradation, deforestation, pollution, and habitat loss.

  • Community Engagement: Engage with local communities, stakeholders, and indigenous groups to foster participatory decision-making and community involvement in natural resource management. Facilitate dialogue, partnerships, and collaborative initiatives.

  • Resource Mapping and Inventory: Conduct surveys, mapping, and inventories of natural resources to assess their distribution, quantity, quality, and ecological significance. Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other tools for data analysis and visualization.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor the status and trends of natural resources through regular assessments and monitoring programs. Evaluate the effectiveness of management interventions and conservation measures.

  • Capacity Building: Build the capacity of district staff, community organizations, and other stakeholders in natural resource management techniques, conservation practices, and sustainable development principles.

  • Permitting and Regulation: Review and process permits, licenses, and applications related to natural resource utilization, extraction, and conservation activities. Ensure that activities are conducted in accordance with regulations and environmental standards.

  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate disputes and conflicts arising from competing interests in natural resource use, such as land tenure conflicts, water rights disputes, or conflicts between conservation and development objectives.

  • Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, databases, and reports on natural resource management activities, including monitoring data, enforcement actions, and compliance status. Prepare and submit reports to relevant authorities and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, natural resource management, forestry, ecology, or a related field is typically required. Additional qualifications or certifications in relevant areas may be advantageous.

  • Experience: Previous experience in natural resource management, environmental conservation, or related fields is often preferred, particularly in roles involving planning, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in GIS, remote sensing, data analysis, and other technical tools used in natural resource management is beneficial. Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and policies is also essential.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are necessary for building relationships, facilitating dialogue, and resolving conflicts among diverse stakeholders.

  • Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze complex environmental data, interpret scientific findings, and make informed decisions is important for effective natural resource management.

  • Leadership and Management Skills: Demonstrated leadership abilities, project management skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are valuable attributes for this role.

  • Ethical Conduct: Commitment to ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism in natural resource management, including respect for indigenous rights, cultural heritage, and environmental ethics.

  • Adaptability and Resilience: The capacity to work in diverse environments, often in challenging or remote settings, and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities is essential for success in this role.
