Job Description

The Deputy Project Manager (RA-PURE) will ensure that learnings are generated and advocacy activities are aligned with these learnings. He/she will provide high-level insights on integrating the productive use of renewable energy in regenerative agriculture practices. The role will adhere to SNV standards, the organization's approach to project management and administration, and comply with donor regulations to deliver high-quality project outputs. Working closely with the Project Manager, the Deputy Project Manager will support the management of partnerships, including, but not limited to, Local Capacity Builders, local implementing organizations, and government departments at both County and National levels, ensuring compliance with MOUs and contracts. He/she will lead the planning, reporting, inception, implementation, document management (SharePoint), documentation closing, and workforce management of the project, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, timeline, and acceptable quality standards as outlined in the contracts with donors and relevant stakeholders.

How to Apply

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships and collaborations with ecosystem actors within the RA-PURE nexus, including ministries, local government authorities, private sector, civil society, and partners.

  • Liaise with the Project Manager to provide operational guidance and support for programme activities, including the development of work plans, budgets, and competency tables within financial responsibilities and mandates.

  • Support knowledge development, case studies, testimonials, and the documentation of evidence and results from project interventions, including business models or cases.

  • Provide leadership, strategic direction, and guidance to the Pathway Leads on project activities and interventions to ensure coherence in quality implementation and reporting.

  • Coordinate with the Project Finance Officer (PFO) to undertake quarterly budget monitoring and variance analysis for the project, supporting the review and tracking of spending to adhere to annual budgets.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project teams and partners, enhancing their understanding of opportunities and challenges related to the integration of productive use of renewable energy technologies in agriculture.

  • Support project teams and partners in appraising productive use of energy solutions, identifying technological, financial, or governance issues that may hinder the intended impacts of renewable energy use in agriculture.

  • Provide strategic direction to RA-PURE actors in Uganda to reflect and rethink the linkages between agri-food and energy, creating alignment and synergies in implementing RA-PURE nexus initiatives.

  • A Master’s degree in Energy, Business Administration, Development Studies, Engineering, or related disciplines is required.

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in programs related to learning, linking, and leveraging.

  • Good understanding of the Ugandan energy and agriculture sectors.

  • Strong leadership skills, experience in partnership development, and a deep understanding of consortia management.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, with strong reporting facilitation and presentation skills.

  • RA-PURE experience in managing productive use of renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, and/or small and medium-sized enterprise business development is desirable.
