Job Description
The Data Scientist I will work under the supervision of the Senior Data Scientist and collaborate with professionals across data engineering, analytics, and finance. The role will focus on structuring data, developing dashboards, supporting machine learning initiatives, contributing to optimization projects, and automating internal processes. This entry-level position is suited for candidates eager to build practical data science skills in a dynamic and impact-driven environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Structure, clean, and validate enterprise data within the Redshift-based data warehouse
Develop reusable SQL queries and support data pipeline optimization
Build Power BI dashboards and automate operational and financial reporting
Contribute to machine learning models for credit scoring, fraud detection, asset tracking, and behavior modeling
Assist in deploying models using tools such as Docker, MLFlow, and AWS
Support operations research tasks to optimize asset allocation, maintenance, recovery, and risk forecasting
Contribute to AI/automation tools including chatbots, LLMs, and image validation systems
Document technical processes and collaborate with teams to address business needs
Present data insights using PowerPoint, dashboards, or interactive notebooks
Participate in internal data literacy initiatives

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or related field
0–2 years’ experience in data science, analytics, or software engineering (internships/academic projects are acceptable)
Proficiency in Python and core data libraries: pandas, numpy, matplotlib, scikit-learn
Intermediate to strong SQL skills
Exposure to Power BI or other BI tools
Strong Excel skills and basic experience with dashboard/report automation
Preferred but Not Required:
Familiarity with data structures, model evaluation, feature engineering
Knowledge of Redshift/PostgreSQL, optimization libraries (pyomo, pulp)
Exposure to Docker, MLFlow, and AWS
Background in asset financing, fintech, or lending
Soft Skills & Mindset:
Fast learner, accountable, detail-oriented
Open to mentorship and feedback
Passion for solving real-world problems using data
Comfortable in a high-performance and fast-paced team culture
