We’re seeking a strategic and results-driven leader to head our operations in Uganda. As Country Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving business growth, ensuring operational excellence, and leading a dynamic team in one of Africa’s most exciting fintech markets.
Position Overview
eTranzact Platform Ltd, a leading African financial technology company, is seeking a visionary and results-driven Country Manager to lead and grow its Uganda operations. This pivotal leadership role will be responsible for steering the company’s strategic and operational agenda in Uganda, aligning with eTranzact’s broader Pan-African mission to drive financial inclusion, innovation, and digital transformation.
The Country Manager will report directly to the Board and serve as the face of the company in Uganda, providing leadership across regulatory engagement, business development, operations, risk management, and talent strategy. This role requires a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of the financial services and FinTech ecosystem, strong strategic acumen, and a demonstrated ability to scale complex businesses in dynamic environments.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Execution
Develop, localize, and execute a comprehensive country strategy to drive sustainable business growth in Uganda, aligned with eTranzact’s global objectives.
Identify and pursue new market opportunities and product innovations, positioning eTranzact as a leading digital payments provider in Uganda.
Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and regulatory developments to ensure agility in strategy execution.
Regulatory & Government Engagement
Serve as the principal liaison with the Bank of Uganda, Uganda Revenue Authority, and other regulatory and financial institutions, ensuring strong relationships and full compliance with all licensing, reporting, and operational requirements.
Proactively shape regulatory engagement by participating in relevant industry forums and contributing to policy dialogue on FinTech and digital financial services.
Operational Management
Oversee all operational functions, including risk, compliance, finance, IT, and customer experience, ensuring optimal performance and operational efficiency.
Implement robust systems, controls, and processes to ensure highquality service delivery, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
Stakeholder Management & Business Development
Cultivate strategic partnerships with banks, telecom operators, merchants, corporate clients, government institutions, and development partners to accelerate market penetration and value creation.
Serve as the chief brand ambassador, promoting eTranzact’s vision and solutions in Uganda’s financial and technology ecosystem.
Leadership & Team Development
Build and lead a capable, motivated, and diverse leadership team to drive execution, innovation, and accountability across all business lines.
Foster a values-driven, high-performance culture grounded in integrity, customer-centricity, and teamwork.
Serve as a mentor and coach to direct reports, promoting continuous learning and leadership growth.
Talent Development & People Strategy
Design and implement a country-wide talent development strategy that supports professional development, succession planning, and long-term staff retention.
Ensure alignment of HR policies and practices with Uganda’s labor laws while maintaining a strong, supportive, and inclusive workplace culture.
Promote gender equity, diversity, and inclusion in recruitment, leadership, and decision-making processes.
