Job Description
Job Title: Corporate Sales Manager - Brokers, General Insurance
Reporting To: General Manager – Distribution
Role Overview
Reporting to the General Manager - Distribution the incumbent will be responsible for all corporate business activities in General Insurance (GI) – Broker Channel, achievement of set business targets; promote profitable growth while ensuring mutually beneficial business relationship with the relevant stakeholders.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Business Growth & Profitability
Develop and implement sales strategies to grow the GI Broker portfolio.
Monitor and manage loss and expense ratios to ensure profitability.
Strategic Leadership
Design and execute short- and long-term strategic plans aligned with company goals.
Oversee strategic initiatives to enhance the broker channel's performance and value proposition.
Revenue & Credit Management
Lead weekly revenue meetings, set channel-specific targets, and review performance.
Enforce credit policies, manage premium collections, and control debtor exposure.
Broker Management & Engagement
Recruit and onboard new brokers in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Continuously train and support brokers to optimize productivity and engagement.
Build and sustain long-term broker relationships through regular interactions, trainings, and recognition programs.
Sales Operations
Set annual sales targets for Business Development Officers (BDOs); monitor progress and report to GM Distribution.
Ensure timely delivery of quotations within agreed turnaround times (TATs).
Drive new business acquisition to grow the broker portfolio.
Product & Market Development
Collaborate with internal teams to develop and launch new insurance products.
Continuously review existing offerings to align with market trends and customer needs.
Cross-Selling and Group Collaboration
Support Old Mutual’s Integrated Financial Services (IFS) strategy by identifying cross-selling opportunities across Life, Health, Investment, and Banking business units.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure full adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk control processes.
Oversee implementation of compliance programs, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and sanctions compliance.
Proactively identify and escalate any compliance or risk issues to the Risk and Compliance Office.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and manage the Corporate section team to drive performance and operational excellence.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field (NQF Level 7 or equivalent)
Progress toward ACII or equivalent professional certification
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the General Insurance industry, particularly in business development and/or marketing
Additional business management training is an advantage
