Job Description
As a Consulting Data Fellow, you will work on live projects addressing global challenges, such as public health, climate change, and youth unemployment. The program offers hands-on experience across various project management functions to help fellows discover their strengths. Fellows rotate across roles to gain a comprehensive understanding of the data consulting process while being encouraged to take initiative and contribute their own ideas to the development sector. At the end of the six-month fellowship, exceptional fellows may be offered permanent roles at Dalberg Data Insights, subject to performance and team fit.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Become an active contributor to real-world data-driven development projects.
Rotate across roles to understand different facets of data consulting and project delivery.
Collaborate with diverse and multicultural teams on cross-functional engagements.
Build data solutions and support development of data systems that improve decision-making for public and development actors.
Apply AI technologies and visualization tools to communicate complex data.
Participate in internal learning, training, and reflective activities.
Identify opportunities to drive impact through data initiatives aligned with DDI’s mission.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in AI, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Strong understanding of the social impact sector and stakeholder needs.
Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Understanding of AI technologies and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
Work authorization in Uganda or Kenya.
Eagerness to work in diverse, multi-location teams.
Desirable:
0–2 years of experience working with digital/data solutions.
Familiarity with machine learning and data engineering concepts.
Proficiency in agile development methodologies.
Experience in project management and UX/UI principles.
Ability to build relationships with clients and adapt to their needs.
