Uganda National Oil Company - UNOC was incorporated as a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda in June 2015. Our overall function is to handle the Government of Uganda’s commercial interests in the petroleum sub-sector and to ensure State participation in petroleum activities. The company is also mandated to investigate and propose new upstream, midstream, and downstream ventures initially locally and eventually internationally.

Job Description
UNOC is currently seeking dynamic and results-driven individuals to develop their careers with the company in the following position:
DEPARTMENT: Corporate Affairs
JOB TITLE: Communications Officer (1 Vacancy)
REPORTS TO: Senior Communications Officer
JOB PURPOSE: To assist the Senior Communications Officer in executing day-to-day activities aimed at promoting UNOC across all media platforms in line with the annual communications plan.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate effective, consistent, and timely communication both internally and externally to ensure alignment and collaboration among employees and stakeholders, in accordance with the annual communication plan.
Build and maintain a positive image of the organization by creating and distributing messages via media, public relations efforts, and other communication channels.
Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, media, and the community to enhance the organization’s mission, vision, and objectives.
Develop engaging narratives to promote programs or products, strengthen brand identity, and connect with target audiences.
Serve as the main point of contact, liaising with media agencies to implement activities in line with the communication plan.
Establish and manage processes to support all activities related to protocol, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall business strategy.
Respond promptly to media inquiries and provide necessary information.
Coordinate and ensure participation in radio and TV talk shows as part of media engagement activities.
Draft ready-to-release press releases for distribution to the media.
Oversee and regularly update content on the intranet and other pages managed by the Department.
Ensure that crisis communication plans are comprehensive and appropriately coordinated with the relevant technical departments.
Assist in the planning and budgeting process for the Corporate Affairs department.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications & Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Mass Communication, Public Policy, International Relations, Social Sciences, Languages and Linguistics, Marketing, or any other relevant field from a recognized university.
At least four (4) years of professional experience in communications, public affairs, or international relations in a reputable corporate entity.
Membership in internationally recognized professional bodies or possession of relevant certifications in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related disciplines is a plus.
Experience in managing social media content and/or digital media channels for a large organization is highly desirable.
