Role Summary
We are seeking a Communications Officer who is passionate about storytelling, strategic communication, and social justice. This role will play a central part in elevating Solidarity Uganda’s visibility, strengthening our brand, and amplifying the voices of movements we support. The officer will collaborate across teams to design and deliver high-quality communications materials that reflect our values and mission.
You’ll help shape how we engage the public, partners, and press — from managing social media content to designing publications and IEC materials, supporting events, and enhancing internal communication capacity.

How to Apply
Support the development and production of Solidarity Uganda’s Annual Report and other key publications.
Design high-quality visual content including reports, flyers, posters, newsletters, presentations, and IEC materials.
Work closely with program teams to develop creative content for campaigns, events, and special initiatives.
Manage and regularly update Solidarity Uganda’s social media platforms, ensuring timely and strategic content.
Collect, draft, and curate articles, success stories, and visuals for the SU newsletter and donor communications.
Assist with media relations, including drafting press releases and coordinating interviews or statements.
Support internal communication efforts — including planning events and documenting organizational stories.
Train staff on basic media, communications, and documentation techniques (writing, photography, videography).
Ensure all communications products are aligned with SU’s branding and messaging guidelines.
Support donor visits, content documentation for resource mobilization, and public engagement materials.
Translate and format key documents as needed for diverse audiences.
Take part in cross-departmental communication planning and contribute to content strategy development.
Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, or a related field. Additional training in advocacy or human rights is a plus.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a communications or media-related role.
Advanced skills in graphic design, layout, and video editing using tools such as:
Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro
Microsoft Office Suite
Strong writing and editing skills (in both English and local languages is a bonus).
Experience with photography, videography, and digital content creation.
Strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
Self-driven, innovative, and eager to learn.
Knowledge of website management and/or HTML is an added advantage.
