Job Description
Job Title: Communication, Public Relations and Branding Officer

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Job Summary: To implement the Program’s Communication, Public Relations, and Brand Promotion functions in line with Makerere University’s communication policies and the Mastercard Foundation’s branding guidelines.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and execute the Program Annual communication and Public Relations plans;
Support the Program Director in preparing customized Communications coherent with different target groups;
Be responsible for recording minutes of the Advisory Board and Steering Committee meetings;
Be responsible for production, documentation and dissemination of the Program publications, branding and marketing materials;
Work in close liaison with the Makerere University Public Relations Office to ensure Program visibility through all Makerere communication channels;
Coordinate all Program events in liaison with the portfolio-designated officers;
Co-ordinate the publicity and media engagements for all events;
Monitor, identify and report any safeguarding concerns that may arise during the Program implementation;
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Master’s degree in Strategic Communication or Corporate Communication or Public Relations.
An Honour’s Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or Public Relations or Media Studies or Marketing or Journalism.
Experience
A minimum of 6 years relevant work experience 3 of which should have been at the level of Assistant Communication, Public Relations and Branding Officer in a reputable organization.
Competencies
Proven experience in drafting and editing high-quality publications, press releases, newsletters, reports, and other materials.
Proven experience in managing digital platforms, creating multi-media content, preparing impact stories and producing IEC materials
Proven experience in preparing and implementing community engagement and out-reach strategies.
Proven experience in designing promotional and branding materials like brochures, flyers, and banners.
Knowledge of graphic design tools and video editing software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
