Overview
The Global Health Security (GHS) Department at IDI is seeking a Clinical Biostatistician graduate trainee/intern to gain hands-on experience in applied biostatistics related to health security, outbreak response, and infectious disease research. This role will support the GHS statistical and modelling unit by analyzing clinical and surveillance data to generate evidence that informs infectious disease control strategies across the department’s seven program areas.

How to Apply
Assist with data cleaning, validation, and quality assessment of datasets generated by GHS programs.
Support the development of data collection tools and analysis plans aligned with research questions and project goals.
Conduct statistical analyses for reporting purposes and contribute to manuscript preparation.
Develop and apply statistical models for outbreaks and infectious diseases.
Support sample size calculations and power analyses for epidemiological studies, clinical trials, and proposals.
Aid in designing and maintaining automated, secure, cloud-based data pipelines to ensure consistent data flows.
Monitor data quality through profiling, reporting, and basic visualizations to identify and resolve data issues.
Maintain metadata systems and data catalogs to enhance dataset discoverability, traceability, and usability.
Contribute to data governance activities including dataset version control, consent mapping, and ensuring ethical data use.
Collaborate closely with researchers, data scientists, and subject matter experts to uphold data integrity, ethics, and quality standards.
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or related field. A Master’s degree in Data Science, Biostatistics, or Applied Mathematics is an advantage.
Recent graduate with excellent academic performance (GPA 4.00 or above) from a recognized university.
Person Specification
Solid foundation in epidemiological study designs and public health principles.
Proficient in statistical software such as R, Python, Stata, and SAS, with strong data visualization and interpretation skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
Enthusiastic learner with a commitment to producing high-quality work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
