Job Description
Position Title: Circular Economy Specialist
Company: Finding XY
Location: Kampala, Uganda (with occasional travel to project sites)
Duration & Level of Effort: Two-year contract.
Specific responsibilities will be assigned through individual Scopes of Work, based on the evolving needs of the organization.
Position Overview
The Circular Economy Specialist will provide technical leadership to support MSMEs in adopting sustainable, circular practices. The role focuses on improving resource efficiency, minimizing waste, and integrating circular economy principles into business operations. The Specialist will also play a key role in advancing Finding XY’s strategic positioning in the circular economy space, supporting partnerships, knowledge generation, and advisory services.

Offer technical guidance to MSMEs on circular economy practices such as sustainable design, production, consumption, and waste management.
Design and deliver training, workshops, and one-on-one advisory support on topics like resource efficiency, recycling, life-cycle assessment, and renewable energy.
Conduct assessments of MSME operations to identify opportunities for circularity and support the development of sustainable and financially viable business models.
Track, document, and report on the adoption of circular economy practices among supported enterprises, including lessons learned and success stories.
Collaborate with program teams, technical experts, and external stakeholders to integrate circular economy principles into program design and implementation.
Strengthen Finding XY’s expertise, visibility, and influence in circular economy initiatives by identifying new partnerships, projects, and advisory opportunities.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Business, Circular Economy, Industrial Ecology, or a closely related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience providing technical support in circular economy, green business, or sustainability-focused roles.
In-depth knowledge of sustainability standards, environmental compliance, and life-cycle assessment methodologies.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proven ability to engage and support diverse stakeholders, especially within the MSME sector.
