Position Summary

The Child Protection Caseworker will play a critical role in managing child protection cases and supporting prevention efforts. Reporting to the Child Protection Assistant, the Caseworker will ensure children at risk—including unaccompanied, separated, or vulnerable children—receive appropriate care and services in line with established procedures.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Case Management

  • Understand and apply SOPs for Case Management/Best Interest Procedures.

  • Create and implement monthly workplans based on assigned targets.

  • Identify, assess, and manage child protection cases (Unaccompanied/Separated Children and Children at Risk).

  • Develop, implement, and follow up on individual case plans.

  • Refer and coordinate with relevant service providers and ensure timely case closure.

  • Identify and assess foster families for UAC/SC placements.

  • Conduct home visits and monitor living conditions of children in alternative care.

  • Participate in weekly case review meetings and share BID cases with the Child Protection Assistant.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential case files in accordance with SOPs.

  • Engage with community-based structures for referrals and follow-up.

Child Protection Prevention

  • Mobilize children, families, and communities to engage in child protection awareness and events.

  • Participate in review meetings with Child Protection Committees and foster parents.

  • Support implementation of child participation activities.

  • Conduct focus group discussions and participatory assessments with children.

  • Ensure all prevention activities are documented using Alight’s standard tools.

Reporting

  • Contribute to the timely and quality drafting of weekly and monthly reports.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.

  • At least 2 years of experience in child protection, including direct case management.

  • Basic understanding of child protection principles and frameworks.

  • Proficiency in English and fluency in local languages spoken in the area is essential.
