Job Description
Alexander Lloyd Senior Search is partnering with a leading Mobile Network Operator to appoint a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the end-to-end technology strategy, delivery, and operations of the network. This is a board-facing executive role, accountable for the evolution of the network from legacy technologies to 5G Standalone, 5G-Advanced, and future 6G readiness, while driving best-in-class coverage, reliability, security, and unit economics.
The Role
As CTO, you will have ownership of the entire technology estate, including radio access network (RAN) strategy and delivery across multi-band spectrum (low, mid, high, and mmWave), 5G standalone core, IMS, and cloud-native transformation, transport and backhaul, MEC and edge computing, the device, handset, and SIM/eSIM ecosystem, as well as network operations, availability, security, and customer experience.
You will lead the transition toward AI-native, cloud-native, open, and programmable networks, enabling new revenue streams such as fixed wireless access (FWA), private networks, network slicing, MEC, and IoT.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Define and execute a multi-year network and technology roadmap, from 2G/3G sunset through LTE, 5G Standalone, 5G-Advanced, and 6G readiness.
Lead nationwide RAN planning, rollout, optimization, and performance engineering.
Own core network evolution, IMS modernization, and digital platform enablement.
Drive transport and backhaul modernization to support ultra-low latency services.
Oversee network availability, resilience, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity.
Own technology capital and operating expenditure, unit cost optimization, and vendor strategy.
Build, lead, and develop high-performing engineering and operations teams.
Serve as the senior technology interface to the CEO, Board, regulators, vendors, and partners.
