ICT Assistant job at UNICEF

UNICEF

Job Description

Digital impact is a core pillar of UNICEF’s global strategy. The UNICEF Strategy for Digital Impact focuses on leveraging digital technologies to advance children’s rights, well-being, and empowerment through four key areas: Digital Empowerment (DE), Digital Guardrails (DG), Digital Foundations (DF), and Strategic Enablers (SE). Within this context, the UNICEF Uganda Country Office is strengthening its ICT support services to ensure staff receive timely, effective, and high-quality technical assistance. The ICT Assistant will play a critical role in providing first-line IT support, managing the ICT helpdesk, and supporting conferencing and collaboration tools to enhance productivity and communication across the office.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line ICT support to UNICEF staff, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a timely manner.

  • Manage and monitor the ICT helpdesk, ensuring incidents and service requests are logged, tracked, and resolved according to service standards.

  • Support the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computers, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals.

  • Assist with LAN/WAN connectivity, network operations, and basic systems administration tasks.

  • Support the use of Microsoft Windows, Office 365, and collaboration and conferencing tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom).

  • Provide remote support to users and escalate complex issues to higher-level ICT staff or vendors as required.

  • Assist in maintaining ICT inventory, documentation, and asset records.

  • Ensure compliance with UNICEF ICT policies, security standards, and best practices.

  • Support ICT-related meetings, virtual conferences, and training sessions.
