Job Description
The Chief Executive Officer will strategically direct and expand the organization, aiming to secure and solidify its position as Leader in the Fintech market. This role demands a highly experienced and entrepreneurial executive with deep financial acumen, technological foresight, and exceptional leadership capabilities. The CEO will be accountable for steering innovation, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering a robust culture of compliance and customer-centricity. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, financial oversight, developing and expanding product portfolios, building high-performing teams, engaging effectively with stakeholders, and navigating the evolving regulatory landscape to secure the company’s long-term success and impact in the digital financial services sector.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Growth:
- Drive profitable growth and position the organization as a Fintech market leader.
- Provide strategic leadership, ensure operational excellence, and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development and IT strategy. This includes identifying key target segments, evaluating the competitive landscape, and leveraging innovative Fintech solutions to gain a competitive edge in the market and build brand awareness objectives in line with the company strategy.
- Lead the expansion of the company’s presence in Uganda by identifying new growth opportunities, assessing the feasibility of entering new markets, establishing strategic partnerships, and ensuring the successful execution of expansion plans.
- Conduct market research, identify new business opportunities, and enhance market presence.
- Direct the evolution of the company’s product portfolio to meet market needs and leverage technology for competitive solutions.
Technology and Operations Oversight:
- Oversee the IT department to ensure that policies are up to date and approved by the Board.
- Ensure that IT Controls and IT Security are strictly enforced within the Company, with timely incident reports and suspicious transactions.
- Oversee the quality of software developed, ensuring version control and software documentation.
- Ensure that IT risks (cybersecurity risks) are identified, documented, and managed in compliance with the regulator.
- Ensure the highest standards of cybersecurity, data protection, and regulatory compliance, particularly in relation to financial transactions & services, customer data, and privacy laws.
- Oversee the IT department in policy implementation, security implementation, product development & business initiatives for creating innovative disruptive products and solutions.
- Provide strong leadership in all technical aspects, from architecture to implementation, with a focus on quality, security, and performance.
Financial Management:
- Oversee financial restructuring, implementing financial controls, and guiding the company towards profitability.
- Develop and execute financial plans, analyze results, and adapt strategies to achieve sustainable success.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional leadership to develop and execute strategic plans, focusing on accurate business forecasting and the creation of commercial strategies to cultivate new revenue streams, customer relationships, and partnerships, all in harmony with the company’s strategic objectives and vision.
Stakeholder Engagement and Brand Representation:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, to understand their needs, collect feedback, and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction by delivering tailored Fintech solutions that address local market demands.
- Stay abreast of local regulatory requirements and ensure that The company’s operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Proactively engage with regulatory bodies to obtain necessary licenses and approvals.
- Serve as The company’s brand ambassador at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Promote The company’s fintech solutions, share thought leadership, and enhance The company’s reputation in the market.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Provide strong leadership and direction to the Business Development and Customer Experience teams, fostering a high-performance culture, setting clear objectives, and empowering team members to excel in their roles.
- Create a collaborative and motivating work environment that encourages innovation, customer success, and professional development.
- Oversee and encourage effective collaboration with the various company departments, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of efforts towards achieving the company’s growth objectives.
- Effectively communicate strategic shifts, manage any resistance, and ensure that the entire Business Development and Service Delivery teams are aligned with the company’s vision and objectives.
- Set and monitor performance metrics, driving pipeline & and revenue growth, profitability, and market share.
