Job Description
The Chief Coiled Tubing Operator will be the senior technician overseeing coiled tubing operations, managing a team of field personnel, and ensuring the correct setup, maintenance, and operation of coiled tubing equipment. This role includes coordinating with engineers and clients, preparing reports, and ensuring safety and operational standards are upheld. The position demands a high level of technical expertise, leadership, and hands-on operational ability in remote and high-pressure environments.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the setup, operation, and demobilization of coiled tubing equipment.
Ensure operational procedures are executed safely and in accordance with company standards.
Supervise coiled tubing crew and ensure personnel are adequately trained and equipped.
Maintain equipment functionality and perform regular preventive maintenance.
Monitor downhole conditions and adjust operations as necessary.
Interpret job programs and execute them with accuracy and efficiency.
Communicate effectively with site engineers and clients to ensure service expectations are met.
Maintain accurate job reports, service records, and safety documentation.
Implement HSE standards and participate in incident reporting and audits.
Train junior staff and promote skill development within the crew.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education: Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in coiled tubing operations with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of coiled tubing equipment and operational practices.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve field-based technical issues.
Familiarity with well intervention procedures.
Other Competencies:
Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
Excellent communication and report writing abilities.
High level of attention to detail and safety awareness.
Ability to work under pressure and in remote locations.
