Job Description
The Catering Manager will be responsible for guiding and supervising kitchen and line staff in a canteen environment. This includes overseeing food production, setting standard menu options and recipes, ordering supplies, and ensuring consistent quality in food presentation and service. The ideal candidate should have strong operational and culinary expertise, excellent leadership abilities, and experience in financial and staff management. The role requires upholding Feedem’s quality, hygiene, and service standards, ensuring the company's image is well represented to clients and stakeholders. The manager will also be expected to maintain client relationships, manage budgets, implement policies, and lead a high-performing team.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee daily kitchen operations and food preparation
Develop and standardize menus and recipes
Order food and supplies, and manage stock levels
Supervise kitchen and service staff in a canteen environment
Ensure high standards of food quality, hygiene, and service
Build and maintain strong client relationships
Monitor and manage financial aspects such as budgeting and forecasting
Implement and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Manage multiple venues and functions concurrently
Build and lead a motivated and productive team
Coordinate staff schedules, performance management, and training
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Tertiary culinary qualification or Chef Diploma
Minimum of 5 years' managerial experience in a canteen environment
Strong food preparation and resale skills
Proficient in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Computer literate with strong administrative capabilities
Strong interpersonal and client service skills
Ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams in a dynamic environment
Own transport and a valid driver’s license
Must reside in or be willing to travel to Parklands
