Position Summary
LWF Uganda is seeking a qualified and experienced Case Worker – MHPSS to support the implementation of mental health and psychosocial support activities in Lamwo. The role involves delivering direct psychosocial support to individuals, families, and groups using Community-Based Psychosocial Support (CBPS) approaches, interpersonal therapy, and peacebuilding interventions. The Case Worker will work closely with community structures, local authorities, and partners to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive MHPSS response.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Collaborate with local authorities, partners, and community leaders to implement project activities aligned with MHPSS goals.
Deliver regular psychosocial support sessions to individuals and groups, including structured interventions like Self-Help Plus (SH+), group therapy, and peacebuilding workshops.
Conduct field visits to project sites to monitor implementation, engage communities, and offer technical support.
Support case management and referrals for individuals with mental health needs, ensuring follow-up and coordination with service providers.
Facilitate training and mentorship for community-based facilitators, psychosocial ambassadors, and peace promoters.
Guide beneficiaries through group formation, leadership, and governance for improved social cohesion.
Lead financial literacy sessions and group evaluations as part of psychosocial recovery.
Contribute to planning, reporting, and monitoring of MHPSS activities, ensuring proper documentation and impact reporting.
Participate in monthly review meetings and adapt strategies as needed in coordination with the Project Officer and M&E team.
Maintain accurate records, attendance lists, and ensure proper accountability and documentation.
Support additional program-related assignments as delegated by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Counselling & Guidance, Community Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
At least 2 years of field experience implementing MHPSS or psychosocial support in refugee or community development settings.
Proven experience in case management, community mobilization, and participatory approaches.
Knowledge of gender-sensitive programming and peacebuilding interventions is a plus.
Ability to communicate fluently in English; knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
Experience in using basic IT tools (MS Office, internet).
Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility to adapt to changing contexts.
Motorcycle riding skills and a valid riding permit are desirable.

High levels of integrity and commitment to humanitarian principles.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Willingness to travel frequently to the field and stay in remote locations.
