Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) is a Statutory Body established by UNMA Act, 2012. The Act empowers UNMA to provide for the control and development of technically sound and scientific meteorological services in Uganda.
The Authority seeks to recruit competent and well-motivated Ugandans to fill the following vacant positions that exit at the Uganda Meteorological Authority (UNMA) and National Meteorological Training School (NMTS) Entebbe.
National Meteorological Training School (NMTS) is based in Entebbe. The School was transferred from Ministry of Education and Sports to Uganda National Meteorological Authority in 2010. The School's mandate is to train all medium meteorological personnel in Uganda which can deliver quality services to the fields of Meteorology, Aviation/Defense, Agriculture, Forestry/Agroforestry, Environment, and Education
The positions are contractual, subject to renewal upon satisfactory performance and Rationalization of Government Agencies

Job Title: Bursar (position 1)
Salary Scale: AS7
Reports to: Principal

JOB PURPOSE
Lead technical adviser to Principal on day-to-day management of finances and assists the
Accounting Officer to account for public resources in accordance with legal and financial policies in place

Lead custody for accounting records and documents;
Lead the preparation of students' fees, bills and reconcile bank slips of fees;
Guide the preparation of tax payments and returns and keep records thereof;
Take responsibility for posting financial transactions, cashbooks and subsidiary ledgers to general ledger and update books of accounts;
Supervise entering of transactions into the commitment control register;
Chief custodian of cash and imprest and effecting payments; and
Prepare and submit monthly reconciliation reports.
Perform any other duty as assigned by supervisor.

An honors Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Finance, Business Administration and Accounting obtained from a recognized awarding Institution with full professional qualification in Accountancy
At least three (3) years of working experience in Accounts in public or a reputable organization
