Job Description
UGAFODE Microfinance Limited is seeking a highly competent and experienced Financial Accountant to strengthen its Finance Department. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Uganda tax laws, the MDI Act, and internal policies. The successful candidate will provide both strategic and operational financial support while supervising Accounts Officers and contributing to sound financial management and decision-making.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, statements, and reports in compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Uganda tax legislation, statutory filings, and the Microfinance Deposit-Taking Institutions (MDI) Act.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis.
- Provide strategic financial insights to management to support business growth and sustainability.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial controls.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Accounts Officers to ensure high performance and adherence to policies.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
- Monitor financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
- Support the implementation and effective use of accounting systems and management information systems.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance financial efficiency and operational effectiveness.
