Branch Manager

Operating in one of the most competitive microfinance markets globally, FINCA Uganda is seeking a dynamic Branch Manager to lead and grow our branch operations.
Role Summary
The Branch Manager will lead the branch team, overseeing all operations in line with FINCA’s policies and strategic goals. The role involves planning, coordinating, and driving business growth, particularly in savings mobilization, while supervising and supporting staff performance.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
1. Staff Management
Monitor and evaluate staff performance; recommend improvements to the Regional Manager.
Ensure adequate staffing and plan staff leave to maintain smooth branch operations.
Foster a positive work environment, motivate staff, and manage discipline.
Coach and mentor team members to achieve performance targets.
2. Customer Service
Lead customer acquisition and service delivery initiatives to ensure an outstanding client experience.
Strategize to uphold FINCA’s brand promise, enhancing customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty.
Address customer feedback using standard survey tools.
Oversee efficient and timely loan disbursement processes.
3. Business Growth
Develop and execute strategies to grow loan portfolios and savings products.
Monitor and report on portfolio performance; propose improvements.
Engage with key clients to drive business expansion.
4. Branch Administration
Ensure security and upkeep of branch premises and assets.
Maintain asset registers and coordinate maintenance requests.
5. Budget Management
Prepare and monitor branch budgets; approve expenses within delegated authority.
Track budget performance and explain variances to Finance and Administration.
Develop and review annual work plans with the Regional Manager.
6. Liquidity Management
Plan and oversee daily cash requirements; maintain cash insurance limits.
7. Compliance
Validate daily transactions for policy compliance.
Train staff on FINCA policies and procedures.
Coordinate internal audits and ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
Advise management on policy updates for operational efficiency.
8. External Relations
Represent FINCA at community events to enhance brand visibility.
Maintain positive relationships with other financial institutions.
9. Reporting
Review and submit timely daily, weekly, and monthly branch reports.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 4 years’ experience in a recognized Microfinance Deposit Taking Institution or Commercial Bank.
At least 1 year in a managerial or supervisory role such as Branch Manager, Credit Supervisor, or Accountant.
