Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) is one of the four Schools under the Makerere University College of Health Sciences, a constituent College of Makerere University. Established, in 1922, Makerere University is one of the oldest Universities in Africa and is currently ranked the 2nd best in research in Africa. It was the first university in East Africa to offer degrees in public health and it remains the leading School of Public Health in the region.
MakSPH is conducting an evaluation of Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) toxicities and surveillance practices across several health facilities in Uganda. The project team is seeking qualified, responsible, and competent individuals to join the research team on short-term basis.

Job Description
Job Title: Biostatistician
Organisation: Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Principal Investigator
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Supervise collection of quantitative data
Conduct data cleaning and manipulation to generate analyzable datasets.
Analyse quantitative data, particularly longitudinal datasets and time series data.
Develop statistical models and perform data analyses using appropriate software (e.g., Stata, R, SAS).
Conduct quality control of statistical data, ensuring the validity and reliability of the analysis.
Collaborate with the study team to interpret results and contribute to the preparation of reports and publications.
Contribute to the design and implementation of data analysis plans and methodologies.
Support the development of reports and manuscripts from analysis.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Master’s degree in Biostatistics or a closely related field (or nearly completed).
Proficiency in statistical software: Stata, R, or SAS (candidates must be highly competent in at least one of these).
Experience in analyzing longitudinal datasets and time series data is essential.
Strong background in statistical modelling and data analysis techniques.
Experience in managing and analyzing health-related data, especially HIV-related data is an added advantage.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
