Job Description
The role involves developing technical specifications for medical equipment, implementing monitoring and maintenance plans, ensuring climate-resilient designs, providing technical support for installation and operation of devices, training healthcare staff and technicians, and supporting quality control and digital management systems. The Biomedical Engineer will work closely with districts, hospitals, and health centers to ensure sustainability, efficiency, and compliance with national standards.

How to Apply
Develop technical specifications for medical equipment in consultation with health authorities.
Support digital stock management via Medical Equipment Monitoring & Management Systems (MEMMS).
Design and implement long-term equipment maintenance plans considering climate resilience.
Train healthcare staff and technicians on equipment maintenance, repair, and adaptive solutions.
Conduct quality control of new and existing medical equipment according to national standards.
Evaluate equipment safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in varying climate conditions.
Assess medical equipment needs and develop procurement strategies prioritizing energy-efficient, climate-resilient technologies.
Provide technical support for installation, commissioning, and operation of medical devices.
Establish quality assurance protocols integrating disaster preparedness and climate resilience.

Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field.
At least 4 years of relevant experience in public hospitals and health centers, including equipment maintenance and management.
Knowledge of Rwanda’s health facility norms and equipment standards.
Experience in quality control, planning, reporting, and producing training materials or SOPs for medical equipment maintenance.
Proficiency with diagnostic, therapeutic, and life support medical equipment.
Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
Initiative-taking, responsible, and able to work independently.
Proficient in office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda; French is an asset.
